Colette Patterns giveaway winner
Thank you so much for all your entries on the Colette Patterns giveaway in the last post - I'm delighted to tell you that the random finger stopped at Melizza of Pincushion Treats who said 'I love how vintage-y Lily looks. I would love to make one using plaids and solids'.
Having looked at Melizza's gorgeous blog (which is full of Colette Pattern makes already) and surveyed with awe the very long list of patterns that she's intending to sew this year, I actually feel slightly guilty to be adding one more to the list, however, I'm so looking forward to seeing what she comes up with (and I've emailed your contact details over to Sarai, Melizza!).
It's the first day back at school after the Easter holidays for my children today and I'd promised myself that I'd do my tax return to get all the gloom over with on one day. However, I woke this morning feeling certain that I should ignore that rather dull bit of self-inflicted number-crunchery and leave it for next Monday instead. So today I will hopefully finish my Liberty print Negroni shirt.
What are you doing on this cold and sunny Monday?
Florence x
Oh good plan to leave the boring tax, I have done my spreadsheet but just need to go through counting stocks such a droll job. I'm going to a 2nd birthday party and I've just pegged out in a lovely sunny garden and put away 5 tubs of ironing from last night (large family lots of laundry) enjoy your sewy day.
ReplyDeleteGoodness...that's a lot of washing! Hope it stays dry for you. x
DeleteWe have a inset day so we're entertaining small friends and ironing school uniform. But I may well get in some gardening and baking later on!
ReplyDeleteOh lucky you - delayed for one more day. I hope you have a lovely afternoon.
DeleteThank you so much! I am sure I with find some time to whip this beauty up!
ReplyDeleteAs for me, this mornign I am finishing up my final and most improved version of the Darling Ranges dress. Took me ages to figure out the fit but I've figured it out.
A great Monday for sure! Thanks again!
Hurrah! I'm so pleased. Happy Monday. x
DeleteCan I just mention that it is ENTIRELY your fault that I bought a very little used (on curtain and some cushions) Pfaff Classicstyle Home 1529 on ebay at the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThis is it.

I got it at the asking price and a friend collected it for me and will ship it to Edinburgh.
I can hardly contain myself.

Whoop! I'm so delighted!!!! I actually wrote my review of it a few years ago and this year at around Christmas and birthday time when my husband was thinking over gifts he asked me whether I was in the market for a new machine - happily, I was able to tell him that I absolutely wasn't - I still adore this very basic machine and there's nothing it can't do that I'd want it to (apart from possible an automatic needle up down and top-loading bobbin, but both of those things are convieniences, rather than anything that affects its sewing capabiliites). I'm so pleased for you that you found one and hope that you love it as much as I do. I hope too that it arrives quickly and that you are able to distract yourself until the postman comes knocking. x
DeleteMy old Pfaff (before the mistake-Bernina I wrote about here http://www.theyarnyard.co.uk/blogs/blethers/bernina-virtuosa-160-for-sale/ ) was a wonderful machine and I've been trying to find a way back for the last ten years.
DeleteThe old one didn't have the needle up/down thing, but it DID tell me when the bobbin was about the run out - the bobbins were clear, and it had a sort of magic eye sensor which, when it could see the sensor on the other side of the bobbin race, made a light flash on the front of the machine. It was SO useful.
My friend (I think she emailed you about sewing machine shops in London) is going to baby sit it for a couple of days because I think she should grab the chance to try a different manufacturer's machine while it's available, but I hope to have it by next week.
You are also responsible for me buying the Negroni pattern.
Such influence is expensive, I may need to stop reading your blog ;0)
I read your post - that's so lovely that you're finally going to have what you know back. And you've confirmed my thinking that you really do just have a 'fit' with a certain brand.
DeleteSo pleased too that you are making a Negroni - I'm hoping to finish mine off today.
Re: your friend's email - my inbox is rather chaotic after the half-term so it could take a little while to reply - I'm so sorry! x
Actually quite warm here today. I've been in the garden all morning - not my favourite occupation but someone's got to do it. Now I'm catching up with blog world from which I've been absent for a while and then I'm off to the sofa to knit because until I finish several things I can't go and play on my newish sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lovely day - and lucky you with the sunshine.
DeleteHooray for Melizza! She's amazing-- I love seeing what she makes!
ReplyDeleteIt's really hot today in NYC-- we're all a bit sweaty in the office! I'm catching up on my blog reading here at work and wishing I was at home playing with my new serger!!
I've only discovered her lovely blog relatively recently - you're right - amazing!
DeleteOh lucky you - I love being in a city on a really hot day (but less lucky that you're not sat in front of your new serger - I hope you had fun when you eventually got home).
Oh and I've tried to comment on your blog, but it won't let me - it seems to think I need to log in to Wordpress, but I don't actually have a wordpress account.
DeleteIt was warm yesterday and tomorrow it will be 38 C,I am not looking foward to that.
