Happy Morning Hair Accessories Board PDF

I first made one of these hair accessories boards about two years ago because our mornings were so fraught trying to find a matching pair of clips or hair bobbles for Zebra-girl to wear to school. It's such a simple thing, but not only does organising the hair accessories seem to have given us an extra five minutes in the morning, more importantly, it's quelled the feeling of rising panic and that coloured each morning. Which is why this is called the Happy Morning Hair Accessories Board.

The bands can be hung on the cup hooks and the clips are easily stored on the velvet ribbons, meaning that everything is laid out for easy viewing and quick selection - hurrah! And, of course, there's the fun of arranging and rearranging for the small one, so it's not just practical.

The finished board is approximately 43cm x 30cm, and has 3 ribbon lengths of hair clip storage and nine cup hooks of hair band storage (we tend to pile these high with're not limited to nine pairs).

The basis of the hair accessories board is a piece of MDF (or similar), and while I'm happy to cut mine to size myself using a hand-saw, I've found that most of my local DIY or hardware shops are more than happy to do it for me. A staple gun is also handy, but not essential.

The PDF comes with a full list of ingredients; plenty of pictures; full, bullet-pointed instructions; and specific measurements, so there's no guess-work in where to place ribbons and hooks. As ever small, independent businesses are welcome to sell any hair accessories boards made from this PDF where credit is given. The PDF costs £3.50 (that's just over $5 USD).

You don't need a PayPal account to pay for this pattern - PayPal accepts credit and debit cards. Once you've paid, PayPal will take you to a page where you can download the pattern instantly, by clicking on the link provided. You will also receive an email containing the same link.

If you want to share any photos of a finished board, then I would love to see them - you can email them to me or drop them into my Flickr group here.

  1. As my darling daughter keeps taking the scissors to her hair, we haven't been in need of many hair accessories yet. One day...

  2. I've been puzzling over a hair accessories storage solution, too, but most patterns leave out the pony tail holders. I love your solution for that!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a message - it's always really lovely to hear from people.

I now tend to reply within the comments section, so please do check back if you've asked a question or wish to chat.
